What happens if I go over my AI receptionist plan?
- The short answer
- Going over your GreetKeeper plan changes your bill, not your service. GreetKeeper keeps answering every inbound call. Each answered call past the allowance is billed at your plan's published rate: $0.45 on Starter, $0.35 on Professional, $0.25 on Scale. Around 420 calls a month, Professional costs less than Starter plus overage.
The longer answer
Every bundle plan in this category has an allowance, and what happens past it depends on the vendor. Some print the rate, so you can work out a busy month in advance. Others leave it off the pricing page, so you find out from the invoice.
Rosie's pricing page lists minutes per plan and no overage rate, as of September 2026. Goodcall publishes $0.50 per extra unique customer. Dialzara publishes a per-minute rate on every tier. Before you sign with anyone, ask what the first call past the allowance costs and get the answer in writing.
The worst month to learn your overage rate is the one you needed the phone most, because that's when the bill is biggest. A product launch, a storm or a seasonal rush all push volume past the bundle at once.
When it's cheaper to move up a plan
Overage is fine for the odd busy week. It's the wrong choice for a month that's busy every month. You can find the crossover point with two numbers from the pricing page.
Starter is $49 for 200 calls at $0.45 each after that. Professional is $149 for 750. Starter plus overage passes Professional's price once you pay for about 222 extra calls. So from roughly 420 answered calls a month, Professional is the cheaper plan.
Professional to Scale works the same way. Professional is $149 plus $0.35 a call past 750, and Scale is $349 for 2,000. From about 1,320 answered calls a month, Scale costs less.
Seasonal businesses land on both sides of the line. A landscaper might sit near 300 calls in winter and pass 600 in spring. If that's you, the question is which plan costs less across the whole year, not in your busiest month.
Check three months of your own numbers before you switch. One spike doesn't justify a bigger plan, and a steady climb does.
How GreetKeeper handles it
GreetKeeper doesn't stop answering, send calls to voicemail or cut features when you pass your allowance. Booking, transfers, transcripts and summaries all carry on exactly as before.
Only answered calls count. Robocalls and spam calls are screened out before the greeting, and very short calls don't count either. A wave of junk calls can't push you over.
Every overage rate sits next to its plan on the pricing page, and there's no setup fee to weigh against a switch. If you'd rather lock in a lower rate for the year, annual billing gives you two months free.
Going over your plan
Will GreetKeeper stop answering when I hit my call limit?
No. GreetKeeper answers every inbound call, at any hour, whether you're inside your allowance or past it. Calls past the allowance are billed at your plan's rate, from $0.45 down to $0.25.
How much does it cost to go 50 calls over on Starter?
Fifty extra calls on Starter cost 50 times $0.45, which is a little over twenty dollars on top of the $49 plan. On Professional the same 50 calls cost $0.35 each.
Can I see the overage rate before I sign up?
Yes. GreetKeeper prints all three rates on the pricing page: $0.45 a call on Starter, $0.35 on Professional and $0.25 on Scale. Every plan also starts with a 14-day free trial and no card. You'll see your real call count before you pick.
