One rule shaped all of them. Every number that describes your business comes from you: your missed-call rate, your job value, your wage. Your own figures beat any industry average. Each form opens with example numbers so you can see it work. They're labeled as examples, and they're there to be typed over.

The only fixed figures are our own plan prices, allowances and overage rates. Those are read straight from the pricing table, so a tool can never disagree with the pricing page. Where a tool compares us with another vendor, you enter that vendor's quote yourself. Prices move, and a stale figure inside a calculator does more harm than a blank.

Every page shows its formula in plain words and walks through one example by hand. Check the sums with a pencil if you like. Each page also notes what else to weigh, because a cheaper bill isn't always the better service. Each tool also names the one input worth measuring yourself. For most businesses that is the call count, so start with a week of your phone log. Two weeks is better if your volume swings. Then run the numbers twice, once for a normal month and once for your busiest. The overage rate tells you what the busy month costs before it arrives.
