What is a unique caller in answering-service pricing?
- The short answer
- A unique caller is one distinct phone number, counted once in a billing month no matter how many times it rings you. Goodcall prices this way: $79 a month covers 100 unique customers, with $0.50 for each extra one, as of September 2026. GreetKeeper counts answered calls instead, at $49 a month for 200 calls.
The longer answer
Unique-caller pricing turns a repeat caller into a free call. A patient who rings three times about one appointment costs you once, and call length never enters it. Goodcall pairs the model with uncapped minutes on every tier.
Your caller mix decides whether that helps. A practice full of regulars who call back gets a lot from it. A roofer or a plumber, whose calls are mostly new people asking for a quote, gets close to one unique customer per call anyway.
Watch the second multiplier too. Goodcall prices per agent, and each phone number is an agent. Run a main line and a service line, and you're buying two plans, each with its own count.
Goodcall's tiers step from $79 for 100 unique customers to $129 for 250 and $249 for 500. Paying annually brings the Starter tier to $66.
Unique caller or per call: which one fits your phone
Pull one month of your call log and count two numbers: total inbound calls, and distinct numbers that called. If the two are close, most of your callers ring once.
Divide total calls by distinct numbers. A result near 1 means unique-caller pricing saves you little, and the size of each allowance matters more.
Count your phone numbers. Every extra line on a per-agent plan is another subscription before a single extra caller.
Then check spam. Robocalls show up as distinct numbers, so ask any vendor whether they count toward the allowance.
How GreetKeeper handles it
GreetKeeper bills per answered call, across your account. Starter is $49 for 200 calls, Professional $149 for 750 and Scale $349 for 2,000, with $0.45, $0.35 and $0.25 for each call past that.
Robocalls and spam calls are screened out before the greeting and never count toward your plan, and very short calls don't count either. Your allowance is spent on real conversations.
Each location gets a dedicated local number, included. Start with the 14-day free trial, no card needed, and compare your own calls against distinct callers before you choose a plan.
Unique caller pricing questions
Does a unique caller reset every month?
On Goodcall's model the count runs per billing month, so a regular who rings in January and February counts once in each. Check the reset window with any vendor that sells this way.
Is unique-caller pricing cheaper than per-minute pricing?
For long calls, usually yes, because minutes don't enter the count. Goodcall's $79 covers 100 unique customers with uncapped minutes. Per-call pricing, like GreetKeeper's $49 for 200 calls, also ignores call length.
What happens when I go over my unique caller limit?
Goodcall charges $0.50 for each extra unique customer, as of September 2026. On GreetKeeper, each call past the allowance costs $0.45 on Starter, $0.35 on Professional and $0.25 on Scale.
