8x8 forwarding rules can hand calls to GreetKeeper
You set a forwarding destination in Admin Console and calls reach GreetKeeper. Nothing flows back into 8x8's own records.
Caller
“I've been bounced round three departments. I just want to know if my order shipped. Nobody has picked up in ten minutes.”
What happened next
- Order number read back to the caller and saved in the transcript
- Marked urgent in the summary because the caller had already been transferred twice
- Emailed to your operations address, with the recording link attached
How GreetKeeper connects to 8x8
Three states, and we publish the one that is true rather than the one that reads best.

What 8x8 is in this setup
8x8 runs cloud phone and contact-centre service for businesses. Admins work in the 8x8 Admin Console, where extensions, ring groups and auto attendants all live.
Each extension carries its own call forwarding rules. You can forward when busy, when there's no answer, when the device is offline, or on every call.
Ring groups and auto attendants have the same idea at a bigger scale. A menu option or a group's no-answer step can send the caller to an external number, and an external number is all GreetKeeper needs to be.
Where the call record lands
8x8's analytics count the call and record that it left the system. Everything about the conversation sits in GreetKeeper.
Your 8x8 reports show the leg to the external number. Talk time, yes. What the caller wanted, no. GreetKeeper holds the transcript and writes the summary.
Delivery is your choice. Email suits an ops team who work from a shared inbox. A webhook suits anyone who already pipes call data somewhere, because it posts the record as JSON the moment the call ends.
Appointments are the one thing that leaves GreetKeeper on its own. A connected Google Calendar or Outlook gets the booking written straight in.
Forwarding from 8x8
Admin Console, one extension or group at a time. Start narrow.
Pick the extension, ring group or menu option
Most businesses pick the ring group their main number lands on, or the auto attendant option that gets abandoned most often.
Open its call forwarding rules
In Admin Console, find the extension or group and open call forwarding. You'll see rules for busy, no answer, offline and always.
Set an external number as the destination
Choose External Number and enter your GreetKeeper number in full, with the country code. Save it against the rule you want, usually no answer or always.
Test from a phone outside 8x8
An internal test can behave differently. Use a mobile on a different network, let it ring through to GreetKeeper, then read the transcript that arrives.
What this connection does not do
Questions about 8x8 and GreetKeeper
Can an auto attendant option go to GreetKeeper?
Yes. Point a menu option at an external number and use your GreetKeeper number. Press 2 for bookings is a common way to start.
Does GreetKeeper show in 8x8 analytics?
Only as an outbound forwarded leg. The conversation itself, the transcript and the summary stay in GreetKeeper.
What if my extension has forwarding disabled?
Your 8x8 administrator controls that. External forwarding has to be permitted on the account before any destination will save.
Forward one group and see
Pick the group that drops the most calls. Two minutes, no card.
