Aircall can hand unanswered calls to GreetKeeper

Set an external number in your Aircall number settings and the forward works today. Your Aircall activity feed will not gain the transcript.

“I'm returning a call from your sales team. I don't have a name, just this number. I've got about five minutes before a meeting.”

What happened next

  • Callback number and the five-minute window both noted in the summary
  • Caller asked for pricing, so the summary flagged it for the sales team
  • Webhook posted to your CRM's inbound endpoint within seconds

How GreetKeeper connects to Aircall

Three states, and we publish the one that is true rather than the one that reads best.

What Aircall is in this setup

Aircall is a cloud phone system built for sales and support teams. Agents work in a desktop or mobile app, and each number has its own routing settings in the dashboard.

Every Aircall number has a distribution setting and a rule for what happens when nobody answers. The usual destination is voicemail.

That rule also accepts an external number. Swap voicemail for your GreetKeeper number and the callers your team misses get answered instead of recorded.

Where the call record lands

Aircall's activity feed is one of its best features, and GreetKeeper does not add to it. Be clear about that before you switch.

Aircall logs the call and shows it was redirected. The insight cards, the tags and the agent notes stay empty for that call, because GreetKeeper does not write them.

GreetKeeper's own record is the transcript and the summary, sent by email or posted to a webhook. Sales teams usually take the webhook, because their CRM already accepts inbound JSON.

If the caller wanted a meeting, GreetKeeper books it into a connected Google Calendar or Outlook. That is a real write into the calendar, not into Aircall.

Forwarding from Aircall

Dashboard work, a couple of minutes, and easy to undo.

  1. Open the number you want covered

In the Aircall dashboard, go to Numbers and pick one. Teams usually start with the main support or sales line rather than a personal line.

  2. Find the unanswered-call behavior

Scroll to the settings that control what happens when nobody picks up. Voicemail is the default, and this is the setting you're replacing.

  3. Redirect to your GreetKeeper number

Choose the option to redirect to an external number and paste your GreetKeeper number in. Set the ring time before it triggers, usually 20 to 30 seconds.

  4. Let a real call go unanswered

Ring the number from your mobile and let it ring out. GreetKeeper should answer. Then compare the Aircall activity entry against the GreetKeeper transcript.

Questions about Aircall and GreetKeeper

Does GreetKeeper log the call against the Aircall contact?

No. Aircall contacts and their timelines are untouched. GreetKeeper's record reaches you by email or webhook, and your CRM by whatever you build on that webhook.

Can I use it for one number only?

Yes, and that is the sensible first move. Redirect one number, run it for a week, read the transcripts, then decide about the rest.

What happens to voicemail?

Nothing, until you replace it. If you point the unanswered rule at GreetKeeper, callers reach GreetKeeper instead of the voicemail beep.
