Water is coming through a ceiling and your on-call phone is silent

GreetKeeper answers the night, works out whether the job can wait, and rings the person you nominated. Real emergencies are sent to 911, not to you.

“There's water pouring out from under the kitchen sink and I can't find the shutoff. I've got towels down but it's getting worse.”

What happened next

  • Matched your urgent list, so the call was transferred to the on-call tech
  • Read the caller the shutoff question you wrote before transferring
  • Logged address, phone and the caller's own words for the morning

The night rota only works if someone hears the phone

You pay a tech to be on call. Then the phone rings at 2am, goes to a shared voicemail, and nobody listens to it until 7.

Most night calls are not urgent. People ring at odd hours because that is when they noticed the problem. Waking your on-call tech for a dripping tap burns the rota, and after a few of those he stops answering.

The opposite failure costs more. A genuinely urgent job sits in voicemail while the caller rings two competitors and books whoever picks up. You find out on Monday, if at all.

The decision in the middle is a rules problem, not a judgment problem. You already know which words mean wake somebody. GreetKeeper asks the questions and applies your list.

How a 2am call gets sorted

You write the urgent list once. The AI reads it on every night call and does one of three things.

  1. Send a true emergency to 911 first

If someone reports fire, gas, injury or anything life-threatening, the caller is told plainly to hang up and dial emergency services. GreetKeeper is not an emergency service and never acts as one.

  2. Ask the questions that separate urgent from Monday

Is water still running. Is the heat off with a baby in the house. Is the power out to the whole unit. You write these questions, and the answers decide the route.

  3. Ring the on-call number for a match

A matching call is transferred to the phone you nominated, with the AI reading out what it collected. Your tech picks up already knowing the address and the problem.

  4. Book everything else into the morning

A non-urgent caller gets an early slot from your calendar instead of a callback promise. They go back to bed booked, and nobody was woken to do it.

The cost of covering nights

Night coverage is where per-call pricing shows its value, because volume is low and call length is high.

PlanMonthlyCalls includedAfter that
StarterFor a single location taking calls one line at a time.$49200$0.45 per call
ProfessionalBooking, routing and transfers included, not an add-on.$149750$0.35 per call
ScaleFor busy phones and longer opening hours.$3492,000$0.25 per call

Starter runs $49 a month for 200 calls, then $0.45 each. Professional is $149 for 750 at $0.35. Scale is $349 for 2,000 at $0.25.

A frightened caller at 2am talks for a while. Per-minute answering services charge for every one of those minutes, and a bad night gets expensive. A call is a call here, however long it runs.

Booking sits on every tier, which matters at night. The non-urgent callers are the majority, and putting them into a real slot is what stops them dialing somebody else at breakfast.

Read this part carefully

Questions people ask

What does it say if someone reports a gas leak?

It tells the caller to hang up and call emergency services right away. GreetKeeper does not handle life-safety calls and does not try to keep that caller on the line.

Can I change what counts as urgent by day of the week?

Yes. Many trades run a tighter list on Saturdays than on weeknights. The rules are settings, and you can edit them whenever the rota changes.

What if my on-call tech does not pick up?

You can nominate a second number to try. If no one answers, the call is still captured in full, so the detail is waiting rather than lost.
