AI receptionists for electricians, ranked on the call you take one-handed
GreetKeeper is our product, and it ranks first for an electrical contractor because it tells a scorched socket apart from a tripped breaker, messages you the specifics while your hands are inside a consumer unit, and puts the routine visit in your diary, at $49 a month with the overage printed.
Wiring work leaves no hand free for a ringing mobile. Voicemail loses most of those callers. What earns the job is a line that picks up, asks the two questions that divide danger from a quote for rewiring, and handles each accordingly.
Dialzara opens the list at $29 for 60 minutes, and Rosie holds the $49 anchor for 250 minutes. Both meter talk time, so someone listing every flickering bulb in the building is paying by the sentence.
Ruby and PATLive staff their lines with people. Ruby's entry plan is $250 for 50 minutes, and PATLive prints its per-minute rate on each tier. Abby Connect sells one currency across human and AI minutes from $165. Any of them fits a contractor who prizes a receptionist's voice and has the margin.
The electrician's test is the live handover. Someone reporting a warm outlet or a buzzing panel needs you straight away, and GreetKeeper patches them through, dials a backup number when yours goes unanswered, and messages the duty electrician with the location and symptoms. Rosie's live handover comes with its $149 tier.
How this was put together
Disclosure: GreetKeeper is our product. Judged in September 2026 against a sparky's working day, and each competitor figure comes from that vendor's own pricing page read that month.
What we compared
- Whether danger is separated from quote requests during the conversation, using questions you write.
- Whether the specifics reach your mobile as a message while you are up a ladder.
- Whether routine visits land in your diary at the entry price.
- The metering unit, because describing symptoms takes time.
- Published price, allowance and overage rate.
The shortlist at a glance
Billing unit first, because it decides more of the final bill than the headline price does.

GreetKeeper
Danger sorted from quotes, the specifics messaged to you, routine visits in the diary, at $49.
Worth it for: A one-van or three-van electrical contractor working with both hands busy, who wants hazards reaching them live and rewiring quotes landing in the diary with no ring-back.
Charges per answered call. Entry plan $49/mo for 200 answered calls. After the allowance: $0.45 a call on Starter, published.
Dialzara
The cheapest start in this list, with per-minute overage on each tier.
Worth it for: A sole trader trialling the idea at $29 monthly, where enquiries are few and a rate between $0.48 and $0.35 per minute can be forecast.
Not for: A packed month on the entry plan. Sixty minutes covers roughly fifteen symptom descriptions, and the next tier is $99.
Charges per minute. Entry plan Business Lite $29/mo for 60 minutes. After the allowance: Published on every tier, from $0.48 a minute down to $0.35.
Rosie
The $49 anchor, with diary entries and live handover one plan up.
Worth it for: A contractor who wants enquiries captured cheaply and will phone everyone back from the van at lunch.
Not for: Diary entries or live handover at $49, since both belong to the $149 Scale tier, and forecasting overage, since that rate is unpublished.
Charges per minute. Entry plan Professional $49/mo for 250 minutes. After the allowance: Not published.
Goodcall
Billed per customer across an entire project, talk time uncapped.
Worth it for: A contractor whose clients phone repeatedly through a multi-day rewire about access, materials and timing, since a repeat caller counts once at $79 for 100 customers.
Not for: A firm with its own separate hazard line, because every phone number is another agent to pay for.
Charges per unique caller. Entry plan Starter $79/mo ($66 annual) for 100 unique customers. After the allowance: $0.50 per additional unique customer, published.
Abby Connect
Human or AI per conversation, paid in one currency from $165.
Worth it for: A contractor who wants a person speaking to commercial clients and software for everyone else, on one subscription.
Not for: Spend below $165 monthly, and peak season, since 50 Abby Minutes equals 100 minutes of AI handling and the rate beyond that is unpublished.
Charges per minute (half-rate AI). Entry plan Starter $165/mo for 50 Abby Minutes. After the allowance: Not published; one Abby Minute buys two minutes of AI handling.
PATLive
Staffed answering with its rate card fully printed.
Worth it for: A contractor who wants a person picking up and zero surprises, since each tier from $99 for 50 minutes prints its per-minute rate.
Not for: Brief enquiries in bulk. Per-minute metering rounds each quick question upward, and its $49 tier bundles zero minutes at $2.99 apiece.
Charges per minute. Entry plan $49/mo pay as you go with no minutes included, at $2.99 a minute; $99 for 50 minutes. After the allowance: Published on every tier: $2.99 a minute pay as you go, $2.29 on the $99 plan, $1.99 at $349, $1.79 at $759, down to $1.49 at $6,899 (re-read on patlive.com/pricing 2026-09-24).
How to choose for an electrical contractor
List what should interrupt you. Sparking, scorching smells, warm sockets and a dead board in winter are typical, and GreetKeeper routes by the list you write. Those conversations patch through to you or the duty electrician, with a message carrying location and symptoms.
Next, price the explanation. Someone takes four minutes explaining symptoms, and Ruby's 50 minutes at $250 or Dialzara's 60 at $29 charge for exactly that. GreetKeeper counts answered calls, so a long explanation and a quick reschedule cost alike, and very brief calls plus screened robocalls stay uncounted.
Finally, paperwork. Symptoms, location and whether it's a repair or a quotation arrive in each GreetKeeper summary and webhook, and a Zap on a paid Zapier plan carries them into Jobber or Housecall Pro. Afterwards the caller gets one text confirming the visit.
Our own pricing, in full
Including the rate after the allowance, which is the number most of this list leaves off.
| Plan | Monthly | Calls included | After that |
|---|---|---|---|
| StarterFor a single location taking calls one line at a time. | $49 | 200 | $0.45 per call |
| ProfessionalBooking, routing and transfers included, not an add-on. | $149 | 750 | $0.35 per call |
| ScaleFor busy phones and longer opening hours. | $349 | 2,000 | $0.25 per call |
The short version
- Booking is included on every tier. Rosie keeps booking and live transfer behind its $149 plan.
- The overage rate is on the pricing page. Rosie, Ruby, Slang and AnswerConnect do not publish theirs.
- Calls are counted, not minutes, so a long useful conversation costs the same as a short one.
Questions people ask about this list
Can an AI receptionist tell an electrical hazard from a routine enquiry?
Yes, using questions you supply. GreetKeeper asks what the caller sees, smells or has lost power to, patches hazards through to you live, and puts rewiring quotes and new-socket jobs in the diary. You decide which symptoms count as urgent.
How do I hear about enquiries while I'm working on site?
GreetKeeper messages the duty electrician with name, number, location and symptoms, and each conversation arrives as a transcript plus a short summary. When a handover to you goes unanswered, it dials a backup number you nominate before taking a message.
Does it work with Jobber or Housecall Pro?
Through our webhook. Webhooks by Zapier catches each conversation on a paid Zapier plan, Jobber's own Zapier action creates the client and request, and Housecall Pro's creates the customer. Each tool's integration page shows the steps.
Why rank GreetKeeper first for electricians?
On those criteria: hazards reach you, routine visits enter the diary at $49, and overage is printed at $0.45 per call. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial, no card required.
