You cannot take a call with a live panel open

Half your day is somewhere you shouldn't be holding a phone. GreetKeeper answers for you, tells a burning smell apart from a tripped breaker, and books the rest.

Handled

Caller

“There's a burning smell coming from the socket behind the washing machine and the RCD keeps tripping when I reset it.”

What happened next

  • Told the caller to leave the circuit off and not reset it again
  • Flagged urgent: burning odour plus repeat trip, same-evening attendance
  • Texted Sam the address, the circuit description and the consumer unit age

The phone rings when both hands are occupied and the power is live

Up a ladder, inside a consumer unit, halfway through a first fix on a site with no signal. Every one of those is a reason your caller hears ringing.

Your domestic callers ring in the evening when something stops working. Commercial callers ring the moment a circuit drops and takes a till or a freezer with it. Neither will wait, and both find another number in under a minute.

Revenue is only half of what a missed call costs you here. Someone who can't reach an electrician about a scorched socket often decides to reset the breaker again and carry on. A call that gets answered is a call where somebody says leave it off.

GreetKeeper answers and reads your own safety instruction before anything else happens, then books the visit or escalates it.

Separating a nuisance trip from something that is about to burn

Three words decide it: smell, heat, repeat. You write what each one triggers on your line.

  1. Ask about smell and heat first

A burning odour, a warm faceplate or scorch marks route to the urgent path and to your safety wording. A breaker that tripped once when the kettle and the microwave went on together doesn't.

  2. Say what to switch off, and to leave it off

Your instruction, read back exactly, about isolating the circuit and not resetting. Your transcript records that the caller heard it, which matters if the visit turns into a report.

  3. Capture what the installation is

It asks the consumer unit age, whether you are looking at a fuse board or RCBOs, and whether the property is rented. Those three change what goes in your van and whether a certificate is involved.

  4. Book, or wake somebody

Routine fault-finding, EV charger quotes and periodic inspections go into your calendar. Anything on the urgent path texts whoever you have on call, with the address.

What connects to your calendar

You probably run lighter job software than the mechanical trades, so the connection picture is short.

Set against an EV charger install you did not quote

One quote you'd otherwise have missed covers the year. Here's what the plans cost.

PlanMonthlyCalls includedAfter that
StarterFor a single location taking calls one line at a time.$49200$0.45 per call
ProfessionalBooking, routing and transfers included, not an add-on.$149750$0.35 per call
ScaleFor busy phones and longer opening hours.$3492,000$0.25 per call

Starter is $49 a month covering 200 answered calls, then 45 cents each, which fits you if you're one van taking evenings and the hours on site. Three vans and commercial maintenance contracts generally means Professional at $149 for 750 calls, then 35 cents.

Because it counts calls rather than minutes, five minutes getting a landlord to describe an old fuse board costs you the same as a quick booking. That's the opposite of how most answering services bill you.

It does not do electrical advice

What sparks ask

Can it tell someone to switch off a circuit?

It reads your instruction word for word, usually about isolating the affected circuit and leaving it off. It doesn't improvise past that and it won't talk anyone through testing.

How does it know what counts as urgent?

You define it. Most sparks set burning smells, warm accessories, scorch marks and repeat trips as urgent, then leave a single nuisance trip or a light fitting for the calendar.

Will it quote for a rewire?

No. It states the fixed numbers you give it, a callout charge or a minimum, then takes your rewire down as a quote request with the property details attached.

Does it work with Jobber?

Through Zapier, as a client and a request rather than a scheduled visit. Only your Google Calendar or Outlook takes a direct write.

Can I keep taking my own calls during the day?

Yes, most do. Forward on no-answer, so it only picks up when you are somewhere you cannot, and the rule is yours to change from the van.

Hear it handle a burning smell

Your safety wording, your urgent rules, two minutes.
