Ruby receptionist pricing: plans, billing and overage
Ruby's receptionist plans cost $250 a month for 50 minutes, $395 for 100, $720 for 200 and $1,725 for 500. Every plan carries the same features, and the only difference between them is the minute count. Live chat is a separate subscription from $143 for 10 chats. Ruby explains how it counts a minute on its own pricing guide. The meter runs from the moment a receptionist answers until they transfer the call to you or it ends, and it includes the after-call notes. Each call is then rounded up to the next 60 seconds.
Ruby states there are no hidden fees for activation, onboarding, setup, customization or coverage. What its pricing page doesn't print is the rate for a minute past your plan. You pay "any overage minutes" on top of the base rate, and you learn the price per minute from Ruby's sales team.

What decides a Ruby bill
- The bundle size. Fifty minutes at $250 is roughly seventeen three-minute calls, which a busy week can use up.
- Rounding to the minute. A call of 1:12 bills as 2:00, so a day of short calls costs more minutes than anyone spent talking.
- After-call notes, which sit inside the metered time rather than outside it.
- The overage rate, which you get from Ruby's sales team rather than its pricing page. It prices every minute of your busiest month.
- Chat, if you want it, as a second subscription beside the receptionist plan.
Worked example
An accountancy practice takes 100 calls in a normal month and 260 in January, all of them about tax deadlines. Calls run 2:40 on average, and every one rounds up to 3 minutes on Ruby's meter.
Normal month
100 calls × 3 billed minutes = 300 minutes. The $720 plan covers 200, leaving 100 at a rate Ruby's page doesn't print. The $1,725 plan covers all 300.
January
260 × 3 = 780 billed minutes, which is 280 past the largest published plan. Those minutes are priced at Ruby's overage rate, which you'd have to ask for.
Rounding alone
2:40 billed as 3:00 adds 20 seconds a call, about 33 minutes in a normal month and 87 in January.
GreetKeeper
100 answered calls in a normal month is $49. January's 260 is $49 + 60 × $0.45 = $76.
The practice can price its normal month on Ruby's card. January, its most important month, needs the overage rate in writing first, because that rate sets most of the bill.
