How to forward Verizon One Talk calls to GreetKeeper
One Talk forwarding lives in the My Business portal, line by line. Three tabs cover the modes, and your desk phone sets how long it rings.
The four forwarding modes on Verizon One Talk
Verizon's One Talk portal splits forwarding into tabs, and each tab has a Status switch for every line on the account. That means the front-desk line can forward on No answer while the owner's line stays untouched.
| Mode | One Talk portal tab | Where else you can set it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| All calls | Always | Desk phone or One Talk mobile client | Closed days, or the front desk on a lunch break |
| Busy | Busy | Desk phone or One Talk mobile client (Busy Transfer) | A line already on a call when the next customer rings |
| No answer | No answer | Desk phone or One Talk mobile client (No Answer Transfer) | Overflow while the team is with customers |
| Unreachable | Always, switched on before you close up | One Talk mobile client, from wherever you are | Power cuts, moves, a shop left empty overnight |
Each tab offers two targets: Voice mail, or Phone number with a forward target number. A Selective tab also forwards chosen callers only, set per line.
Portal steps read on Verizon's One Talk Portal - View / Manage Call Forward Settings, https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-220163/, on 24 September 2026.
Set up forwarding on Verizon One Talk
Five steps, from copying the number to switching it off again.
Have your GreetKeeper number ready
Copy the local number for the shop you're setting up. One Talk wants it typed into the forward target field, so keep all ten digits handy.
Open One Talk in My Business
Sign in to My Business, click Manage Account, and pick One Talk under Product Portals. Under I want to, choose Manage features, then the User Features tab and Call Forwarding.
Choose the tab and switch on the line
Open the No answer tab for overflow, or Always for closed hours. Flip the Status switch next to the line, pick Phone number, enter the GreetKeeper number and click Submit.
Test from outside the account
Ring the line from a mobile that isn't on One Talk and let it ring out. GreetKeeper answers, and the transcript and summary arrive a moment after you hang up.
Turn it off with the same switch
Go back to the tab and flip the line's Status switch off, then Submit. Your One Talk numbers, auto receptionist and hunt groups stay exactly as they were.
Picking a One Talk tab for a busy counter
Take an auto repair shop with a desk phone at the counter and the owner's One Talk app on his mobile. The counter line goes on the No answer tab. When the service writer is out in the bay with a customer, callers asking about brake jobs get booked in instead of ringing out.
The Busy tab earns its keep on Monday mornings. The service writer is on the phone with a parts supplier, and the next caller goes straight to GreetKeeper. It answers calls that arrive together at the same time.
Closing at six? Switch the counter line to Always from the One Talk mobile client on your way to the truck, and GreetKeeper takes every evening call. Flip it back from the same app when you open.
Selective forwarding fits a fleet account or two. Send only those callers to GreetKeeper's line during a busy week, and every other customer still reaches the counter.
One Talk details from Verizon's own article
Ring time is a desk phone setting. Verizon warns that changing it alongside No Answer or Busy Transfer can affect calls sent through an Auto Receptionist. Test a transferred call as well as a direct one.
The mobile client changes forwarding but not ring time. Owners who live in the app still need one visit to the desk phone to set the rings.
Every line has its own switch. Forwarding the counter line leaves the owner's line and the bays alone, which is usually what a shop wants.
Click Submit on every tab. Verizon's steps end each change with it, so press it before you place a test call.
Verizon One Talk forwarding questions
Where is call forwarding in the Verizon One Talk portal?
In My Business, go to Manage Account, One Talk under Product Portals, Manage features, the User Features tab, then Call Forwarding. You'll see Always, Busy, No answer and Selective tabs there.
How do I change how long a One Talk phone rings before forwarding?
Set the ring time on the desk phone, because the mobile app doesn't hold it. Verizon's example is 3 rings for a 15-second ring time.
Can I forward just one One Talk line to GreetKeeper?
Yes. Each tab has a Status switch per line, so you can forward the front-desk line and leave every other line ringing as normal.
Does a forwarded One Talk call count as a GreetKeeper call?
Every real call GreetKeeper answers counts toward your plan. Robocalls and silent callers are screened out before the greeting and don't count.
