How to forward iPhone calls to GreetKeeper

One switch in Settings sends every call on. Your carrier's star code, dialed from the keypad, handles busy and missed calls.

The four forwarding modes on iPhone

Apple builds one forwarding switch into iOS, and it covers all calls. For busy, unanswered or out-of-service calls, Apple points you to your carrier, which means dialing a short code from the iPhone's own keypad.

ModeWhere you set it on an iPhoneWhat forwardsGood for
All callsSettings > Apps > Phone > Call Forwarding, then Forward ToEvery call, with no ring on the iPhoneDays off, a week away, a shop that's closed
BusyYour carrier's busy code, dialed from the Phone keypad (T-Mobile **67*)A call that arrives while you're already talkingOwners who live on the phone with suppliers
No answerYour carrier's no-answer code (T-Mobile **61*, Verizon *71)A call you don't pick up in timeOverflow while you're with a customer
UnreachableYour carrier's not-reachable code (T-Mobile **62*, Verizon *71)A call to an iPhone that is off or out of coverageFlights, basements, a dead battery

The iPhone shows a Call Forwarding icon in the status bar while the Settings switch is on. Turn the switch off and calls ring the iPhone again.

Set up forwarding on iPhone

Five steps, from copying the number to switching it off again.

  1. Copy your GreetKeeper number

Sign in to GreetKeeper and copy your local number. Paste it into a note on the iPhone so you can drop it straight into Settings or the keypad.

  2. Decide: every call, or only missed ones

Every call means the Settings switch. Missed, busy or out-of-range calls mean your carrier's code. You can use the carrier codes on their own and leave the switch off.

  3. Set it on the iPhone

For every call, open Settings, tap Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding, and turn it on. Tap Forward To, enter the number, and tap Back. For missed calls, open the Phone keypad and dial your carrier's code with the number.

  4. Call yourself from another phone

Ring your iPhone number. With the switch on, GreetKeeper answers straight away. With a carrier code, let it ring through. Book a test visit, then check that the transcript and summary reach your inbox.

  5. Turn it off

Flip Call Forwarding off in Settings, or dial your carrier's off code, such as ##61# on T-Mobile or *73 on Verizon. Calls ring your iPhone again right away.

Which iPhone setup fits the way you work

A solo electrician whose iPhone is the business line usually wants the carrier's no-answer code, not the Settings switch. You still take the calls you can. The ones that ring out while you're up a ladder reach GreetKeeper, which books the visit and reads the address back before it hangs up.

If your iPhone runs two lines on Dual SIM, Apple lets you pick which line forwards. A realtor with a personal number and a work number can forward only the work SIM during showings. Family calls keep ringing, and buyers who call the listing number get answered.

Use the Settings switch when you want the phone quiet, such as a Sunday or a week off. Every call goes to GreetKeeper, callers still book, and you turn the switch off on Monday. After each call the caller gets one text with their booking link or confirmation.

What Apple's page says to watch for

You have to be in range of the cellular network when you set forwarding, or calls won't forward. Set it before you head somewhere with weak signal, not after.

Apple's Settings switch is for service on a GSM network. Apple's page sends anyone else, and anyone who wants busy or not-in-service forwarding, to their carrier for the setup details.

On a Dual SIM iPhone, Call Forwarding asks you to choose a line first. Check you picked the business line before you type the number.

Glance at the status bar before a busy day. The Call Forwarding icon tells you the Settings switch is on and every call is heading to GreetKeeper.

iPhone forwarding questions

Where is call forwarding on an iPhone?

Open Settings, tap Apps, then Phone, then Call Forwarding. Turn it on and enter your GreetKeeper number under Forward To. The forward applies to every call until you switch it off.

Can an iPhone forward only unanswered calls?

Yes, with your carrier's code dialed from the Phone keypad. On T-Mobile that's **61*1 plus the number and #; on Verizon it's *71 plus the number. Apple's switch itself forwards every call.

Does it matter which carrier my iPhone uses?

Only for the codes. GreetKeeper answers a forwarded call the same way in all four modes, whichever network the call came from.

Will my iPhone still ring when forwarding is on?

With the Settings switch on, calls go straight to GreetKeeper and the iPhone stays quiet. With a no-answer code, your iPhone rings first and the call forwards once the carrier's delay runs out.
