AnswerConnect vs PATLive for a small business
AnswerConnect and PATLive both staff live receptionists and bill by the minute. PATLive prints its whole rate card. It runs from $49 pay as you go at $2.99 a minute, through $99 for 50 minutes, up to $6,899 for 5,000. AnswerConnect prints no price, and you get one through a quote form.
So the choice starts with how you like to buy. With PATLive you can price any month yourself, overage included. That rate falls from $2.29 a minute on the $99 plan to $1.49 at the top. With AnswerConnect you get detailed billing rules up front and the price on a call.
PATLive fits a small business that wants to compare prices without talking to sales, and whose volume swings between tiers. AnswerConnect fits one with lots of very short calls, because its first 30 calls under 30 seconds each cycle are free. Both were read on the vendors' own sites in September 2026.

PATLive's ladder, rung by rung
PATLive's lowest tier is $49 a month with no minutes included, at $2.99 a minute. The first bundle is $99 for 50 minutes, with extra minutes at $2.29. After that come $189 for 100, $349 for 200, $479 for 300 and $759 for 500.
The larger plans are $1,499 for 1,000, $2,899 for 2,000 and $6,899 for 5,000. The overage rate falls as you climb: $1.99 a minute at $349, $1.79 at $759 and $1.49 at the top tier.
With that many rungs, you can pick a bundle close to your real use. The $49 tier suits only a very quiet line, since every minute on it bills at $2.99.
What AnswerConnect tells you before the quote
AnswerConnect's plans page describes the service and shows no figure. Its help centre fills in how a minute is counted. Billed time covers the whole call, including the after-call work of processing your message, but not time a caller spends in the queue.
Calls past 30 seconds bill by the whole minute, rounded up. The first 30 calls under 30 seconds in each cycle are free, and that includes wrong numbers, hang-ups and spam. Extra minutes bill at your plan's rate, you're alerted at 80% and 100% of your allowance, and unused minutes don't carry over.
A bookkeeping office through tax season
Picture a three-person bookkeeping office. Most months it uses about 120 minutes of answering. In March and April, that climbs to around 400.
On PATLive, a normal month sits between the $99 plan for 50 minutes and the $189 plan for 100. You'd pick $189 and pay overage on the last 20, or step up to $349 for 200. In tax season, 400 minutes sits between $479 for 300 and $759 for 500, and you can work out both options from the page.
On AnswerConnect, you'd send the same two numbers with your quote request. Ask whether you can change plans for the busy months, and what the overage rate is if you don't. Its help centre's rounding and short-call rules then tell you how your 120 and 400 minutes will be counted.
Transfers and recording
AnswerConnect's help centre names four transfer types: cold, warm, hot and live relay. Call recording is off by default and can be switched on per number at no extra charge, with callers told when a call is recorded.
For PATLive, ask which transfer types your plan includes and how recording works before you sign. Either way, the forwarding mode and ring delay are set at your carrier or phone system.
Another way to price a seasonal line
Disclosure: GreetKeeper is our product, and it appears only in this section. It's an AI receptionist billed per answered call, not per minute, with every rate printed. Starter is $49 a month for 200 answered calls, then $0.45 a call. Professional is $149 for 750 at $0.35, and Scale is $349 for 2,000 at $0.25.
A tax-season rush doesn't change the unit. GreetKeeper answers calls that arrive together at the same time, so nobody queues, and a long question about a return counts once. Very short calls and screened robocalls don't count toward the plan.
Every call arrives as a transcript and a short summary, and it can book callers into Google Calendar or Outlook on every plan. There's no setup fee, and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, every feature on and no card.
| Plan | Monthly | Calls included | After that |
|---|---|---|---|
| StarterFor a single location taking calls one line at a time. | $49 | 200 | $0.45 per call |
| ProfessionalBooking, routing and transfers included, not an add-on. | $149 | 750 | $0.35 per call |
| ScaleFor busy phones and longer opening hours. | $349 | 2,000 | $0.25 per call |
Questions people ask about this comparison
Is PATLive cheaper than AnswerConnect?
Only PATLive prints a price, so you can't compare the two from their websites. PATLive runs from $99 for 50 minutes to $6,899 for 5,000, with a printed rate for extra minutes. Ask AnswerConnect for a quote on your minute count, then set it against PATLive's card.
What does PATLive charge per minute?
It depends on the tier. The $49 pay-as-you-go tier charges $2.99 a minute with none included. Extra minutes cost $2.29 on the $99 plan, $1.99 at $349, $1.79 at $759 and $1.49 at $6,899. That was re-read on PATLive's pricing page in September 2026.
Does AnswerConnect charge for short calls?
Not for the first 30 each cycle. Its help centre says the first 30 calls under 30 seconds in each billing cycle are free, including wrong numbers, hang-ups and spam. Past 30 seconds, a call bills by the whole minute, rounded up.
