GreetKeeper vs Smith.ai

Smith.ai and GreetKeeper agree on the thing most of this market argues about. Both of us bill you per call, so a caller who talks for nine minutes costs the same as one who talks for two. What you're really weighing here is a staffed receptionist bench against a lower bill, and whether your calls need a paralegal's vocabulary.

Why people move off Smith.ai

One vendor's specific wall, not a general complaint about the category.

Almost nobody leaves Smith.ai over the product. They leave over the per-call rate at volume: at about $2.00 a call on Pro, 300 intake calls costs more than a part-time hire, and a single ad campaign that lands in your phone queue can double the bill without anyone approving it. The second reason is narrower. If you're not a law firm, you're paying for a Clio-shaped bench you never send a call to.

Where we differ

The right-hand column is the honest one. A comparison that finds no fault with itself is worth nothing.

What GreetKeeper does differently

  • Our entry plan is $49 against their $150 Pro tier, and both count calls rather than minutes.
  • Booking is included on every GreetKeeper plan.
  • We publish the integration matrix with three honest states instead of one word.

What you give up leaving Smith.ai

  • A human receptionist team behind the AI, so a call the assistant cannot handle reaches a person who works for them rather than voicemail.
  • Deep legal tooling: native Clio and MyCase integration, and a client base reported to be heavily law firms.
  • They have been running for years and carry the reviews and case studies that come with that. We have none.

What a busy month costs on each meter

The headline price tells you about a quiet month. This is the other one.

Smith.ai is the rare vendor whose unit price falls as you grow: $3.00 a call at the free tier, $2.00 to $2.17 on the $150 Pro plan, and $1.60 to $1.67 on the $500 Enterprise plan. That's honest and it's published. It's still a per-call rate that never drops below about a dollar sixty. Our Scale plan works out at roughly $0.17 per included call, and $0.25 for anything past 2,000. Below about 60 calls a month their free tier beats both of those, which is worth saying out loud.

Moving off Smith.ai in practice

The technical part is a forwarding change. The rest is the part nobody warns you about.

Smith.ai answers on a forwarding number, so the port itself is a five-minute change at your carrier. The real work is your intake script. Firms usually have a long conflict-check question list, a set of practice areas that route to different attorneys, and a rule about which matters get booked versus which get a callback. Rewrite that once for us, run both on split forwarding for two weeks, and read the transcripts side by side before you cancel anything.

What we cannot show you

Questions people ask about this comparison

Smith.ai already bills per call. So what changes?

The rate, and what a booking costs you. Their Pro plan is $150 for 75 to 300 calls, which is about $2.00 each. Our Professional plan is $149 for 750 calls, which is about $0.20 each, and appointment booking is on it. Their bench of people is what the gap buys.

Do you integrate with Clio the way Smith.ai does?

No. Smith.ai has a native Clio and MyCase integration and we do not. Our matrix names what writes natively, what goes through Zapier, and what does not connect at all. If Clio is where your matters live, read that page before you read our pricing.

What happens on a call your AI cannot handle?

It transfers to your team, or it captures the caller's name, number and reason for calling and sends you the transcript. Smith.ai can hand that same call to one of their own receptionists instead. Their fallback is a person they employ. Ours is a person you employ.
